The Fashion Awards 2024: a night of style, celebration and cultural impact

December 24, 2024

Earlier this month, the British Fashion Council (BFC) proudly announced the winners of The Fashion Awards 2024 (TFA). As one of fashion’s most prestigious events, TFA serves as a major fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, celebrating fashion’s intersection with culture and entertainment, while honouring exceptional creative talent.

Hosted by British broadcaster Maya Jama and musical artist Kojey Radical, the star-studded ceremony recognized 16 award categories voted on by an international panel of industry experts. The evening combined live performances, fashion tributes and unforgettable entertainment, underscoring the industry’s creative energy.

As guests arrived, Emmanuel Lawal and Ashton Gohil of AUDIOCOMINGSOON set the tone with a dynamic DJ set, while attendees and virtual audiences eagerly anticipated the night’s highlights. The Bailey sisters, Chloe and Halle, opened the ceremony with a soulful performance of the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” dressed in bespoke creations by Dilara Fındıkoğlu. Fashion visionary Law Roach (@luxurylaw) took to the stage to reflect on 2024’s defining fashion moments before legendary singer Debbie Harry surprised the crowd with powerful renditions of “Heart of Glass” and “I Feel Love” celebrating Gucci and Nan Goldin’s Special Recognition Award for the “We Will Always Have London” campaign. Nigerian music icon Wizkid closed the show with “Troubled Mind”, performing in Moncler in honour of Remo Ruffini’s Trailblazer Award.

This year, TFA expanded its reach through virtual platforms, inviting fashion enthusiasts worldwide to participate. Live updates, red carpet highlights and exclusive behind-the-scenes content were shared across Instagram, TikTok and the DREST fashion styling app, ensuring global fans could experience the event in real time.

In addition, TFA spotlighted the next generation of fashion innovators with the NEW WAVE: Creatives cohort by Matte Projects. This recognition celebrates 50 groundbreaking talents from around the world shaping the future of fashion.

Award trophies, crafted by interdisciplinary artist Jade Adeyemi in collaboration with Pandora, symbolized the creative essence of the night. Official portraits of winners were captured by photographer Roni Ahn, further commemorating the event’s legacy.

TFA remains the BFC Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting education, grants, and mentorship programs essential to nurturing the British fashion industry.

As the lights dimmed and the afterparty began with a set from DJ Rachel Anson, the message was clear: fashion is more than style—it’s a global cultural force driving creativity, innovation and change.
