As 2025 kicks off, we look ahead to Joseph Tassoni’s fashion show later this year.

Last month, we exclusively spoke to the designer about his most recent catwalk show and asked him to give our readers an exclusive preview of what we can look forward to later this year! 

Here is what he told us.

Congratulations on your show last fall! What did you think of the event?

The show was a massive success, and I am so proud and humbled by everyone’s overwhelming and incredible support. A huge thank you to everyone who came from near and far to join us—your presence meant the world! 

It was a packed house with a waitlist, I showcased over 140 looks from my Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter 2025 collections, all available online. The collection included parkas, cloth coats, blazers, suiting, swimwear, loungewear, resort wear, cocktail and gala attire, and inclusive designs. These pieces are timeless garments, designed to become part of one’s wardrobe as a staple that inspires countless new looks and remains essential for the years to come. This was my second independent runway show, and it wasn’t just about my latest collection — it was a celebration of community. The event brought together local businesses, partners and community members to celebrate Canadian businesses, support our economy and highlight the importance of mental health, inclusivity and the power of kindness. 

Designing clothes has been my passion since I was five-and-half years old, and being able to share this collection with the world felt amazing. 

How did you feel seeing all the looks come alive on the runway?

It’s a feeling I can’t quite put into words — like a mix of pure joy and exciting chills. Watching designs that started as ideas in my mind transform into sketches, patterns and garments, and then seeing them brought to life on the runway, is such a magical experience. It’s an electrifying and deeply fulfilling moment that reminds me why I love what I do.

What was your favourite part about the most recent show?

This show was deeply personal to me because it was dedicated to my grandfather, Nicola Tassoni, who helped raise me. Three months before the show, he was diagnosed with terminal leukemia. During the week of the show, he was moved into critical care and, sadly, he has since passed away.

Dedicating the show to him meant the world to me. He has been at all my shows since I was a kid and was one of my biggest supporters. He was so proud of everything I’m doing. Losing him has been incredibly hard, but honouring him in this way was very special. I feel so grateful to have had such an extraordinary grandfather – the  best! His love, kindness, and zest for life and family will continue to inspire me every day.

What can we look forward to in terms of your next show this year? 

In 2025, get ready for an unforgettable experience! I’m bringing fresh, innovative silhouettes that push the boundaries of fashion, combined with an elevated guest experience designed to create lasting impressions. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to provide a truly unique and impactful showcase. 

For the third year, we will support the importance of mental health and inclusivity, and this event will highlight diverse voices and foster an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Plus, it all takes place in the vibrant heart of Toronto.

How will it be different from previous years? 

This year, we’re pushing boundaries by incorporating cutting-edge elements of the digital age to create a truly dynamic, unforgettable, forward-thinking experience.
