A Taste of Shangri-La: an elegant culinary escape in the heart of Toronto

November 5, 2026

From exquisite seasonal flavours to exceptional hospitality, Shangri-La Toronto invites guests to indulge in a memorable dining experience just in time for the holiday season.

There is something undeniably special about walking into the Shangri-La Toronto. Perhaps it is the elegant interiors, the beautiful ambiance or simply that unmistakable feeling of stepping away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto. Whatever it may be, the hotel has long mastered the art of making an ordinary outing feel like an occasion. And with the holiday season quickly approaching, there is no better excuse to indulge in a little luxury now!

Running until November 15, Taste of Shangri-La is a limited-time culinary experience at the hotel’s signature restaurant, bosk, celebrating Northern Italian cuisine through seasonal Canadian ingredients, thoughtfully curated menus and exceptional wine pairings.

Part of a global culinary celebration spanning 11 Shangri-La hotels and 25 restaurants and bars, the Toronto experience brings together the very best of local ingredients and international culinary inspiration. Naturally, we had to experience it for ourselves.

Our evening began with the caramelized cauliflower soup, a beautifully executed dish featuring cauliflower variations, prosciutto di Parma, sourdough croutons and toasted hazelnuts. Rich, comforting and wonderfully balanced, it was the perfect introduction to a menu that celebrates autumn without sacrificing sophistication.

Next came the crispy pork belly, accompanied by creamy polenta, Ontario quince mostarda, pickled squash and Brussels sprouts. The combination of flavours and textures was exceptional, offering just the right balance of richness and freshness.

For the main course, the dry-aged duck breast was another highlight. Served with farro and pistachio succotash, Barolo-poached fig and Savoy cabbage, the dish showcased the kitchen’s attention to detail and ability to transform seasonal ingredients into something truly memorable.

Of course, no culinary experience would be complete without dessert, and we made it our mission to try everything. The pumpkin chai torte, featuring chai mousse, Sicilian pistachio and salted caramel, delivered a delightful combination of autumnal flavours. Meanwhile, the chestnut tiramisu, with its delicate layers of chestnut cream, vanilla mousse and poached pear, offered a beautifully elegant finish.

We also opted for the wine pairings, which I would highly recommend. Featuring carefully selected Canadian and European wines, each pairing complemented its respective course, elevating the experience without overpowering the flavours. There is something particularly enjoyable about allowing the culinary team to guide you through an entire dining experience, from the first sip to the final bite.

What made our visit even more memorable was that we brought the children along. My son is an adventurous eater who will happily try just about anything, while my niece is considerably more selective when it comes to food. Thankfully, bosk also offers a dedicated children’s menu, allowing everyone to enjoy the evening at their own pace. And that, to me, is part of what makes Shangri-La so special.

Luxury does not always have to mean leaving the children at home. Sometimes, the most wonderful experiences are those you get to share with them. There is something lovely about introducing children to fine dining in an environment that feels sophisticated yet welcoming, where everyone can appreciate the occasion in their own way.

Throughout the evening, the service was outstanding. Attentive, warm and professional without ever feeling intrusive, the team ensured that both adults and children felt equally welcome. It is precisely this level of hospitality that makes a luxury hotel experience stand out, and Shangri-La continues to deliver it effortlessly.

And because the menu is also available during lunch, it presents a fantastic opportunity for a sophisticated business meeting or client lunch. Whether entertaining a customer, celebrating a professional milestone or simply stepping away from the office for something special, bosk offers an elegant setting that feels both impressive and approachable.

Alternatively, if you are visiting for dinner like we did, my recommendation is simple: do not rush home. Instead, make your way to the hotel’s beautiful Lobby Lounge for a cocktail and live music. There is something particularly lovely about extending an evening over a perfectly crafted drink, surrounded by the warmth and elegance that Shangri-La does so well. The music, the atmosphere and the unmistakable energy of the hotel create the perfect setting to linger just a little longer.

Ultimately, Taste of Shangri-La is about more than the food. It is about slowing down, enjoying good company and appreciating those little moments of indulgence that make life so enjoyable. And with the holidays just around the corner, I cannot think of a better way to get into the festive spirit.

Taste of Shangri-La runs until November 15, 2026, at bosk, Shangri-La Toronto, 188 University Avenue. Reservations are recommended.
