Thousands of fashion-savvy Londoners took to the streets on Sept.8 for a massive international fashion event – Fashion’s Night Out.
One of the best in-store parties of the night was hosted by Donna Karan New York. Although a yellow New York City taxi was brought in just for the event and placed outside the shop, the party took place on the luxurious Bond Street.
DKNY PR Girl is the insider at DKNY headquarters, who shares insider information, thoughts, trends and advice through the DKNY twitter account @DKNY. She defines herself on Twitter as a “well-placed fashion source, bringing you behind-the-scenes scoop from inside Donna Karan New York & DKNY, and my life as a PR girl living in NY.”
The party was hosted by this witty and popular online figure. The inside of the shop was transformed into a remodel of DKNY PR Girl’s New York City apartment, including her funky furniture and stylish DKNY wardrobe.
Trendsetting attendees wore leather jackets, skinny jeans, shift dresses, blouses and chunky heels or wedges. Oversized accessories, such as floppy hats and geek chic glasses, were also popular. A pop of colour on the lips or a high bun for the girls added an element of sophistication and was a bang-on trend for fall 2011.
The DKNY shop went digital for the night, streaming their social media with a wall-sized BlackBerry screen that showcased a LIVE Twitter feed of DKNY PR Girl’s popular tweets as they happened.
Partnering with Mahiki, one of the world’s most famous clubs, there were live DJs, a dance floor and flowing fruity rum cocktails.
The party didn’t stop there, and turned into a guest-list only event with a large crowd shortly queuing up outside the store to get into one of the hottest parties on Bond Street.
After the DKNY party wrapped up, you had the option of heading to the tiki-style club Mahiki in Knightsbridge for the after party, with a free entry and a tropical drink ticket which was handed out to guests when they were leaving the DKNY store.
