Renowned menswear designer Todd Snyder was recently in Toronto, and FAJO caught up with him during his brief stay.

Snyder is well-known for his work with J. Crew and Polo Ralph Lauren, and was one of GQ’s Best New Menswear Designers last year. He was in Canada to launch a new collaboration with the city’s shopping destination Over The Rainbow and activewear brand Champion.

City Gym is an exclusive men’s sportswear line for fall 2013. It takes inspiration from Champion’s pieces and vintage photos from the New York Athletic Club.

Snyder also chose to make his first collection in Canada at the WS and Company factory. He designed the collection in partnership with Champion’s Chief Design Officer, Ned Munroe; together they scoured Champion’s vast archive of sales catalogues and vintage samples to find styles and fabrics that would seamlessly meld with Snyder’s love of classic American tailoring.
