Originally from a city on the Black Sea — Odessa in Ukraine — Darina has been living in Toronto since 2012, where she studied fashion coordination and styling, and also received a Master’s Degree in Fashion.

When she was 18 years old, Darina launched the first street-style online publication in Odessa with her friends, called IMOD, which transitioned into a web magazine about fashion and culture in the city. Before moving to Canada, she also worked for the largest print magazine in the city, where she had her own column about the most interesting and passionate collectors.

By far, one of the most unbelievable experiences of her life was dancing alongside Madonna at the Grand Opening of Hard Candy Fitness in Toronto. She still can’t believe this happened. Working at FAJO—from interning before transitioning to be a contributor, and then growing to the position of Events and Culture Editor—provided her with unique opportunities, including meeting and greeting Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and interviewing A-listers of the fashion industry, like Doutzen Kroes and Manolo Blahnik.

Darina’s hobbies include exploring the world, scrapbooking and collecting Hard Rock Café pins. Currently, she is learning Spanish. Travelling is her ultimate favourite activity, and she loves bringing souvenirs and special pieces to curate her home. Pop culture and cinematography are also her biggest interests. She enjoys an intellectual approach to fashion. Darina’s curiosity makes her explore things to the core and, in the future, “when she grows up”, she intends to write books about fashion and culture.
