It’s almost Thanksgiving, and if you are one of our Canadian readers, here are some of our favourite alcohol picks that would be perfect for your dinner table. (If you are one of our American readers, these would also be helpful in your advance planning for November!)
Chandon Harvest Under the Stars
We love a limited edition collection, and this one is no exception. Chandon harvests under the stars each year because the cool California night protects the quality of the grapes. The acidity and aromatic finesse of the fruits are preserved when gathered in the evening, and now Chandon is bringing that magic to gatherings all season long.
This Brut Classic consistently expresses the signature flavour of apple, pear and citrus flavours and aromas, adding a fabulous hint of spice that leads to a soft, dry finish.
Created using the same three noble grape varieties used in champagne, Chandon California Brut is deliciously crisp and perfect to serve. The bottle has lovely packaging too, so it’s a great gift, in case you are a guest rather than a host this season.
Chandon Harvest Under the Stars retails for $31.70.
Grand Marnier Cuvée Louis-Alexandre
Created as an homage to Grand Marnier’s founder, this reincarnation of Cuvée Louis Alexandre is a blend of 82% VSOP Cognac and 18% bitter, aromatic bigaradia orange liqueur. Rich and smooth, the palate offers notes of candied orange, vanilla and zesty citrus, before a finish of caramel, bergamot and rich oak notes.
Louis-Alexandre is an exclusive blend of fine old cognacs from the region’s best production areas with essence of wild exotic oranges. It’s an intense and less sweet taste, for a contemporary experience of the warmth of GRAND MARNIER® liqueur.
Grand Marnier Cuvée Louis-Alexandre is best served neat or over a large ice cube.
Available across Canada for $89.85 and in Quebec for $79.95.
Rodney Strong 2016 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
This cabernet sauvignon is a 100% Sonoma County Appellation. It has a fabulous richness, accentuated by dark cherry, plum and baking spices. The delicious fruit is accompanied by black pepper notes, crushed violet and cassis. The palate has medium tannins, lingering spicy oak flavours and a velvety lush finish.
It will pair well with turkey, steak, lamb, roasted chicken, pasta with tomato sauce, gouda or cheddar cheese, as well as grilled winter vegetables. A truly great addition to any dinner or meal this fall!
Rodney Strong 2016 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon retails for $27.95.
