Before New York Fashion week kicks off next week and London Fashion Week follows, FAJO looks back to last month when London hosted another year of London Collections Men (men’s fashion week) for autumn/winter 2016.
LC:M is always a great start to a new year for the fashion scene in London. We attended two creative presentations by emerging designers Alex Mullis and Cottweiler.
Sponsored by TopMan, Alex Mullins is one of the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN menswear designers. With an M.A. in Menswear from the Royal College of Art and degree from Central Saint Martins, Mullis set up his own brand in 2013 after working for Alexander McQueen, Diane von Furstenberg, Jeremy Scott and Kanye West. Certainly one to watch, this creative designer showcased unique abstract printed pieces, denim and graphic art in his AW16 collection.
Concept-led Designers Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty make up the brand COTTWEILER. Their AW16 label explored symbolic elements of post-civilized society with serious models in silver metallics, shearling, black bomber coats and neutral knits.
True to COTTWEILER’s art form, they also produce films and installations, which are showcased across London.
These presentations not only showcased the clothes on live models, but also created an inspiring world of art and fashion, open for interpretation.
LCM never disappoints!
