Trove, a 5,000-square-foot wellness haven, opened its doors in Toronto in late April 2024. The space has already earned glowing reviews—and I couldn’t resist experiencing it for myself. I am happy to report that this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a wellness spa.
At the entrance, I was greeted by an array of beautiful products, ranging from skincare to herbal teas, many of which are proudly sourced from Canadian brands. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped by a positive and warm energy. The staff welcomed me with genuine kindness, and I immediately felt a sense of excitement.
The design of Trove is nothing short of stunning. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to make visitors feel both comfortable and inspired. The darker, sophisticated ambiance strikes a perfect balance between an energetic femininity and a grounded masculinity. The atmosphere feels intentional, serene and inviting. Trove is also a co-ed space, making it inclusive and accessible to all.
A truly holistic experience
Trove offers an impressive range of services, all centred around wellness and holistic care. Their offerings include a private cold plunge and sauna room, a therapeutic salt cave, a journaling nook, facials, massages, IV hydration drips, lymphatic drainage treatments, holistic nutrition, coaching, breathwork and hypnotherapy, just to name a few. Whether you’re looking for a solo journey, practitioner-led treatments or group classes, Trove has thoughtfully designed something for everyone’s wellness needs.
My experience at Trove
I began my experience with a lymphatic compression suit treatment. For 25 minutes, I relaxed in a private area, while the suit worked its magic on my legs. The results were incredible—I felt lighter, and my legs were noticeably less tense.
Next, I had a 90-minute facial with Michelle, and I can confidently say it was the best facial I’ve ever received. From the soothing ambiance to the gentle, expert care, every moment felt perfectly aligned with what I needed. My skin was left radiant, hydrated and rejuvenated, with fine lines diminished and an undeniable glow. The gua sha massage was a highlight, boosting my circulation and, yes, even slimming my double chin—talk about a confidence boost!
I then tried the red light therapy for 15 minutes, followed by a session in the private salt cave. The salt cave experience was absolutely transformative. I reclined on a heated wave mat and listened to a calming guided meditation, which melted away all the stress from my day.
My conversation with one of the co-founders
One of the most inspiring parts of my visit was my conversation with Tanya Kololian, one of Trove’s co-founders. Her story is a testament to passion, perseverance and the power of intention. As an intuitive empath, Tanya shared how every element of Trove—its colours, scents, sounds and overall energy—was thoughtfully designed to create a space of healing and alignment. It’s a story of deep passion for wellness.
SARA AFSHAR: Could you tell me a bit more about Trove’s story?
TANYA KOLOLIAN: Zoë Paliare and I have known each other since middle school: her and my older brother were good friends. We’ve always been drawn to one another and often joked about being the “bar stars turned wellness stars” because we both loved a good party back then. Over the years, we kept in touch and, one day, I shared my vision for Trove with Zoë. To my surprise, she had the exact same vision! That was when we decided to come together and create it. We shared the same goals and desires, and while we laugh now about how little research we did, we trusted our instincts. We knew we could fill in the gap in the market.
I was born and raised in Toronto and, in 2016, I embarked on an intense weight loss journey, shedding 130 pounds. At the same time, I was dealing with severe depression and panic disorder. That period forced me to prioritize my mental and physical health and, in the process, I became deeply passionate about wellness. However, I quickly realized how challenging it was to access alternative wellness modalities in one place in Toronto. During my journey, I’d find the best naturopath in the east, the best Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner in the west, but running all over the city made the process anything but relaxing.
At the time, I was working full-time as a commercial real estate broker, juggling corporate life while navigating multiple wellness appointments. Zoë, meanwhile, was on a long-term fertility journey, and when you add acupuncture and other treatments to the mix, it felt like a full-time job. We both realized there had to be a better way to deliver wellness—a way that was accessible, efficient and holistic.
That’s how Trove was born: out of a shared vision to simplify and prioritize wellness for everyone.
You offer so many services, with even psychotherapy coming soon.
Mind, body, and soul were very important in our vision for Trove. We wanted to create a space where people could support their mental health as well as their physical health. These two aspects aren’t separate—they’re interconnected, and we believe in treating them as one. Our goal was to make accessing wellness feel easy and encourage people to truly prioritize their well-being.
In 2025, with everything happening in the world—the economy, global conflicts and the constant pressures of daily life—stress levels are higher than ever. Many of us live in a constant state of fight or flight, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to bring our nervous systems back to a state of calm. That’s why it was so important to us to design a space that fully supports nervous system regulation. Everything, from the colours and scents to the sounds and overall design of the space, was created with intention. We worked closely with Future Studio to ensure every element contributes to a calming, restorative experience for our guests.
Another service that you offer at Trove is the salt cave. What would you say are the key benefits of it?What are some of the benefits of the salt cave?
Spending time in the salt cave mimics the experience of being in nature. The salt releases negative ions, which help us breathe more deeply and easily. It’s especially beneficial for anyone trying to access a deeper state of relaxation or those dealing with asthma, allergies or respiratory conditions. The environment promotes a sense of purification and helps create a deep state of relaxation.
We’ve also incorporated Healthy Wave mats into the salt cave, which enhance the experience even further. These mats use infrared light, PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) technology and are made from crystals. The combination of the Healthy Wave mat and the salt cave provides the ultimate relaxation opportunity, focusing on detoxification, reducing inflammation and improving circulation. To complete the experience, we provide headphones with guided meditations or curated playlists on Spotify, making it a truly immersive and restorative experience.
What’s your personal favourite treatment?
I love this question! But it’s such a hard one to answer because we’ve built the space around all of our favorite things. What I love most about Trove is the ability to pair treatments together to suit whatever I need at the moment, especially since I’m so busy and passionate about wellness.
For example, if I’m about to get on a plane, I’ll pair an immunity IV with a red-light infrared sauna session. If I’m looking to relax, I’ll combine time in the salt cave with a massage. I also use the sauna multiple times a week as part of my ongoing wellness and weight-loss journey. It’s all about creating the right combination of treatments for what my body needs that day.
For Zoë, a lot of her focus is on reducing inflammation and stress as part of her fertility journey. She loves working with our naturopath, getting IV vitamin boosts, and combining the sauna with a cold plunge. We both enjoy tailoring our experiences to what feels best for us, and that’s the beauty of Trove—there’s something for everyone, no matter their wellness goals.
We also offer a variety of classes, all designed to support nervous system regulation. These include sound healing, sound baths, yoga, guided meditations, breathwork and other restorative practices.
Our classes are intentionally curated to help guests find balance and calm. For example, starting the day with intention-setting, journaling or a gentle practice can set a positive tone for the hours ahead. In the evenings, classes often focus on reflection and restorative poses to help clear the stress of the day and prepare for a deep, restful sleep.
I noticed you have a journaling nook—that is such a great idea!
Both Zoë and I have a journaling practice, and we know how impactful it can be to take intentional moments to pause, reflect and set intentions. Journaling allows us to access deeper parts of ourselves that often get buried when we’re caught up in the busy-ness of everyday life.
Even just walking through the space before your treatment, you can feel a sense of peace and serenity. That sense of calm helps create the mental clarity we often lack when we’re in a constant state of stress. It was very intentional for us to design a space where people can come, develop a journaling practice, and make it part of the Trove experience.
Final thoughts
Trove is a beautiful, uplifting space. It isn’t just a wellness spa: it’s a sanctuary that prioritizes the mind, body and soul. If you’re looking for a place to recharge, realign and rejuvenate, I can’t recommend it enough.
