Natural Authority: Joseph Tassoni prepares to unveil SS/FW’27 in Toronto

August 10, 2026

Sold-out runway presentations have steadily transformed Joseph Tassoni’s annual runway show into one of Toronto’s most anticipated independent fashion events. This September, the Canadian designer is returning with an experience that promises to be his most intimate and ambitious yet.

On Friday, September 18, Tassoni will unveil his Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2027 collections at Arcadia Earth at The Well in Toronto. Titled Natural Authority, this year’s presentation shifts the conversation inward, exploring confidence, sensuality and the kind of presence that does not need to demand attention to command a room.

FAJO Magazine will return as the show’s Official Media Partner for the third consecutive year, continuing a collaboration that has documented the evolution of Tassoni’s runway presentations and the growing community around his Made-in-Canada brand.

A new kind of authority

Last year, Tassoni explored the intersection of fashion and technology, placing questions of sustainability and human creativity against a rapidly changing technological landscape. For 2027, he is bringing the focus back to the individual.

Natural Authority is about presence: owning your space, understanding your power and becoming the quiet authority in a room without needing to announce yourself,” Tassoni tells FAJO. “The inspiration came from recognizing how easily human connection can be lost when so much of our communication now happens behind a screen. Technology is part of the conversation, this collection brings us back to something instinctive: the power of dressing, the intimacy of personal connection and the confidence found in sensuality. It is about how a garment can change the way you enter a room, how you hold yourself and how others experience your presence.”

That idea will extend well beyond the clothes themselves.

Inside the experience

Returning to Arcadia Earth, the 2026 event will replace the format of a single traditional runway show, bringing audiences closer to the collection within one of the venue’s immersive environments. Guests will arrive through a red carpet experience presented by Rina DiRisio Real Estate and photographed by celebrity photographer George Pimentel, before moving through an evening of fashion, art, hospitality and entertainment. A custom Joseph Tassoni immersive art installation will further explore the show’s themes, while the Buckland VIP Lounge, culinary tastings and live entertainment by Evolved Entertainment will unfold throughout the venue. The evening will culminate at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, with the official afterparty at EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace.

“We are returning to Arcadia Earth at The Well, but instead of one traditional presentation, Natural Authority will unfold through two timed runway entries, one at 6:30 p.m. and the other  8:30 p.m.,” Tassoni revealed exclusively to FAJO. “The presentations will take place within one of Arcadia Earth’s immersive environments, allowing the audience to feel much closer to the garments, the movement and the emotion of the collection. A second immersive space will explore the relationship between fashion, technology and sustainability through a multi-sensory installation. Guests will move through the environment, encounter pieces from my work and experience the garments in unexpected ways.”

As in previous years, the experience also carries a philanthropic dimension. A silent auction will support the Oakville Hospital Foundation, continuing Tassoni’s commitment to using his runway platform to bring attention to mental health, inclusivity and community.

FAJO returns for a third year

FAJO‘s relationship with Tassoni’s runway presentation has evolved alongside the event itself. After covering his shows and serving as Official Media Partner for the past two years, the magazine returns in that role for a third consecutive season, with exclusive interviews and coverage throughout the evening.

“What I find particularly exciting about Joseph’s trajectory is that every year he finds a way to evolve, while remaining unmistakably true to his identity as a Canadian designer,” says Hannah Yakobi, FAJO‘s Editor-in-Chief. “FAJO has covered fashion around the world for more than 15 years, and supporting exceptional Canadian talent has always been central to what we do. We’re thrilled to return as Official Media Partner for a third consecutive year and to continue documenting Joseph’s growth, his craftsmanship and the extraordinary community he has built around his brand.”

It is that sense of community that may ultimately define Natural AuthorityTassoni’s presentations have increasingly become about more than what appears on the runway. Fashion remains at the centre, but surrounding it is a network of Canadian businesses, creatives, clients, media and community partners who return each year to participate in the world he is building.

And Tassoni knows exactly how he wants guests to feel when the night is over. “I want them to leave feeling they experienced a moment that could not be repeated,” he says. “More than anything, I want the evening to stay with them. I want them to remember how the collection made them feel, the energy of the room, the intimacy of the presentation and the sense that they had witnessed something completely unexpected.”

Relationships at the centre

Collaboration has become integral to Tassoni’s shows, with returning partners playing increasingly prominent roles in shaping the guest experience.

Rina DiRisio has supported Tassoni’s runway events since 2023 and returns this year to present the red carpet experience. “The best businesses are built on relationships and fashion is one of the most personal expressions of that,” says DiRisio. “When you add philanthropy into the mix, it grounds the glamour in purpose, people aren’t just there to be seen, they’re there to support something bigger. That combination is what makes an event like this resonate long after the night is over. There is definitely a sense of community that keeps growing every year.”

Buckland also returns as a partner, presenting the VIP Lounge experience. For President Shirley Smith, supporting Tassoni reflects a broader belief in entrepreneurship, creativity and Canadian business. “Canadians have a story to tell and much to offer the world. We are reliable and trustworthy partners. The story always begins with someone who had an idea, a creative thought and simply needed someone or an organization to pay attention. Magic truly can happen when we support one another.”

Canadian luxury meets Canadian design

This year will also see Birks bringing another dimension of Canadian craftsmanship to the runway. The historic jewellery house will curate pieces to accompany Tassoni’s designs, including selections from Birks Beekeeper and Birks Snowflake, as well as exclusive high jewellery pieces.

“As a proudly Canadian brand, supporting local talent and the communities around us has always been part of who we are,” says Katie Reusch, Head of Marketing at Birks Group Inc. “Over the years, Joseph has built more than a runway show; he has created a platform that celebrates creativity while raising awareness for mental health and inclusivity. Supporting an initiative with such a meaningful purpose made this a natural partnership for Birks.”

The collaboration creates a compelling dialogue between two expressions of Canadian design: an emerging contemporary luxury label and one of the country’s most established jewellery houses.

The best is yet to come

With fashion, jewellery, immersive art and community coming together under one roof, Natural Authority promises to mark a new chapter in Tassoni’s evolving runway experience. As the designer prepares to unveil his SS/FW’27 collections this September, the evening will offer a distinctly Canadian celebration of creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration. It’s a must on the Canadian fashion calendar!
