Inside the star-studded after-party for The Last Showgirl at TIFF

September 10, 2024

The Last Showgirl made its dazzling premiere during TIFF opening week, with a glamorous after-party hosted at the exclusive Soho House in Toronto. Directed by Gia Coppola, the film stars none other than Pamela Anderson, who gives a raw and captivating performance as Shelley, a Las Vegas showgirl clinging to her glittering past. Her character grapples with the closure of her show after a 30-year run, navigating the fallout while mentoring young dancers (Kiernan Shipka and Brenda Song) and rekindling an old flame with Eddie, the stage manager, played by Dave Bautista. The cast is rounded out by the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis, whose comedic chops add depth to this poignant drama.

After the emotional premiere, the celebration moved to Soho House, where the who’s who of TIFF gathered. Thanks to Audi, the night’s presenting sponsor, the luxury and glam were palpable. It’s impossible not to gush about Audi—a brand that consistently innovates, blending sustainability with cutting-edge technology. Just this year, Audi continued its strides toward a greener future, with the Audi Q8 e-tron leading the charge in their electric lineup. It’s safe to say that Audi is not just about fast cars anymore—it’s about making the future greener and sleeker (while looking cool, of course).

The party didn’t skimp on the culinary delights either, every bite was a testament to top-tier taste. The cocktails were just as impressive, including one standout named Razzle Dazzle, which any fan of the movie would immediately recognize. No spoilers, but let’s just say it’s more than just a drink—it’s a vibe. After a couple of sips, I found myself briefly contemplating if I could pivot into a showgirl career. Feathers, sequins, and stage lights? Yes, please!

As the night wore on and the signature cocktails kept flowing, the buzz in the air mirrored the film’s energy. Soho House, with its dimly lit, intimate rooms, added to the magic. Celebrities mingled, journalists scribbled notes, and somewhere, someone was probably plotting their own Razzle Dazzle-themed spinoff. And guess what? The entire cast was in attendance at the after-party, which made the night even more wonderful.

All in all, the night was a perfect reflection of The Last Showgirl itself—glamorous, poignant, and filled with heart. If you haven’t watched it yet, add it to our watch list —it’s a must-see.

Cheers to showgirls, Audi, and a night of glitz!
