Roxanne Nikki’s fall/winter 2012 comeback collection was aptly shown in the heart of the Toronto Distillery District during Rogue Fashion Week.

On Mar.8, the show took place at the Jane Corkin Gallery, where guests were able to sip champagne and see Nikki’s collection in an untraditionally poignant presentation that combined the best of neo-gothic and vintage worlds.

The Vancouver-based designer first gained international recognition after celebrities like Milla Jovovich and Michael Stipe wore her futuristic creations in the 90s.

Returning to the fashion scene after 10 years away, Nikki brought a modern twist to her signature sensual aesthetic.

“I’ve been planning this comeback for some time, and we really wanted to do an intimate show,” she says.

“It has a cyber-pop feel. I was inspired by the contrast of the light and the dark, the bad guy and the good guy, the femme fatale and the romantic.”

The collection was inspired by contrasts.

Pleated soft leather dresses, textured velvet suits and fur coats filled the makeshift runway. The collection featured edgy, yet wearable, leather evening wear that stayed true to fall’s upcoming trends for oversized coats, dark neutrals accented with splashes of saturated colour and androgynous styling.
