New York Fashion Week is unfolding once again, and our team has decided to focus on emerging designers this season.
Designers from all over the world are once again flocking to the Big Apple to showcase their latest collections, and we have selectively handpicked a couple of those who have impressed us with their creativity, trendsetter approach and bold attitude.
Epson Digital Couture
There are so many ways in which designers now incorporate the tech world into their work: think 3D printing, laser-cut clothing and dye-sublimation machines. While many industry insiders are skeptical of this approach, its influence on the fashion industry has been undeniably strong, especially in the last five years.
Sometimes, the results are quite impressive, as we saw at the recent Epson Digital Couture show. The presentation included menswear and womenswear work from both North and South American designers, and ranged from bright, colourful sweaters for winter in North America, to pastel-toned, lightweight swimsuits for winter in the southern hemisphere.
Rubin Singer
Although he has been producing collections for just over three years, Rubin Singer‘s work has been very well-received almost from the start: he has created many costumes for American performers, including Shakira and Alicia Keys, and his costume for Beyoncé was featured in the Super Bowl half-time show in 2013.
Singer’s signature touch is voluminous gowns, in rich or classic colours. His latest collection featured a lot of fabric accents and detailing, with a focus on elegant and classic formal dresses. The collection included both a photoshoot for his lookbook and a studio-style showcase.
