The show is about to start.

Monday, Sept.12, the day of the Nolcha Fashion Week runway shows, started with a bang.

Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 125 West 18th street, all designers were able to showcase their work via three large group shows.

Carlos Luna

Carlos Luna’s first look, an aqua suit and sheer trousers with booty shorts underneath, set the mood for the show. Each item was impeccably made out of silk and had wonderful movement on the runway. The clean styling of the models made the pieces look like any stylish New York girl could pull them off. The vibrant aquas, reds, corals and royal blues were complemented by the bold colour blocking and often daring slits.

Sarahi

The Sarahi show began with casual looks featuring jeans and tight fitting tops. Cocktail dresses followed in shades of blue and gold that showcased the décolleté. The majority of the collection featured evening gowns in white, aqua, yellow, sea foam and gold. Some had full skirts with flamenco dress-inspired ruffles, others employed colour blocking, and the final look turned into a shorter cocktail dress when the full skirt was removed as the designer came to take a bow.

Eredappa

Eredappa’s collection, inspired by the concept of the sun, was an exquisite display of structured cocktail dresses and suits completely beaded head-to-toe. The canary yellow, black and white beading was done in graphic motifs with a tribal influence. The other garments with light blue, pink and white feather-like designs had slightly more conservative shapes. The amount of work that went into each piece was obvious and the overall effect was that of one-of-a-kind pieces.

K. Borgella

K. Borgella showcased skin-tight high-waisted pants, teal, yellow and gold cocktail dresses and backless or cropped tops. The feel was modern, feminine and edgy. The most memorable looks were the black baby doll dress with a modern exaggerated full skirt and a romantic lemon-yellow gown with a sweetheart neckline that was full at the hips and sheer below the knees.
