Arriving at a new venue was amongst one of the exciting things about Montréal Fashion Week this season, which is now in its 23rd edition. Target was one of their major sponsors, and all halls were glistening with a hint of red lighting, while the shiny floors made the guests feel like they were on a different planet. Arsenal was slowly filling up with the city’s finest fashionistas and everyone’s excitement was directed at the large catwalk in the other room.

To kick off the glamour-filled night, Melissa Nepton took to the runway with her classic designs that immediately turned heads. Plunging necklines and stripy pastels were among the prominent themes of her collection. She stuck to the basics, while slightly enhancing them.

The fabric on the models’ bodies looked almost weightless. Nepton’s designs were silky, feminine and truly elegant.

Anastasia Lomonova’s line was filled with her ever-changing ideas and designs that had everyone holding their breath. With an introductory video, Lomonova’s collection was greatly focused on the basic human instincts. It was also hardwired with an animalistic theme. A piece that stood out the most from her collection was the full-body golden number, made up of small pieces. It truly represented the animalistic approach of the entire line.

Amongst the glitz of her show were the furry shoes, statement jewelry pieces and a lot of red that was contrasted with the rest of the earth colours that she chose. Receiving a standing ovation at the end of the show is not something new for Lomonova, as she never ceases to amaze with her bold works.

The Martin Lim duo had another great show this season that was a definite highlight of the week, with an extremely feminine collection. The runway was filled with beautiful models who wore flowing, floor-length dresses.

The brand rocked their signature pink for most designs, and left the audience with a conclusion that a silky pink blouse, skirt or a gorgeous dress is a must-have for next spring.
