Attending the Lexus Film Masters Challenge event, hosted at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, felt like stepping into a world where luxury design and Canadian creativity meet in perfect harmony.
Lexus Canada, known as the exclusive distributor of Lexus luxury vehicles across the nation, hosted this special gathering to celebrate its premium line of cars while uplifting Canadian filmmakers. This wasn’t just about showcasing sleek vehicles: it was about championing the arts, culture and creativity—proving that Lexus is more than a car brand, it’s a lifestyle that reflects a passion for quality, innovation and community. We got to test drive cars, enjoy quality mocktails and even had a private screening of some incredible films, captured specifically for the event.
The Lexus Film Masters Challenge brought together five talented Canadian directors, and each was given the task of creating a unique 1-to-2-minute film, featuring a Lexus Next Chapter SUV: NX, RX, RZ, GX or LX. Through their films, the directors highlighted Lexus’s core brand pillars—Driving Signature, Advanced Technology, Electrification, and Design—showcasing Lexus’s commitment to innovation, while creating unforgettable guest experiences. Supporting Canadian filmmakers like this is a bold, heartening gesture from a luxury brand, demonstrating that Lexus is truly invested in Canadian arts and culture.
Each filmmaker’s vision was beautifully distinct, yet all of them celebrated the Lexus lifestyle. First, Anyo Collantes crafted Symbiosis, a film that depicts the Lexus NX as an immersive sensory experience. Known for his background in photography and music videos, Collantes brought Lexus’s blend of style and detail to life, making viewers see the world through a more refined lens.
Morgana McKenzie followed with The Drive Home, a moving short that captures a father and son on a nostalgic journey, exploring family memories in a Lexus RX. It was a heartfelt film, using the car as a bridge between generations and reminding us that Lexus vehicles are made for memories as much as for the road.
Alexandre Richard’s entry, To Feel is to Live, dives into what it means to experience human emotions for the first time. His story, featuring an artificial being finding emotional awareness, has the Lexus RZ as both a companion and catalyst for this awakening—an ode to Lexus’s cutting-edge approach to Advanced Technology.
Nathaniel Martin’s film Moments Between Miles takes us on an adventure, following a young couple’s relationship journey with the Lexus GX as their loyal companion. Martin’s outdoor-themed storytelling highlights Lexus’s Driving Signature—a perfect match for Canada’s rugged terrains and picturesque landscapes.
Lastly, Darrell Wonge presented The Big Decision, a story about a couple navigating life’s changes with the Lexus LX by their side. Wonge’s experience in lifestyle and fashion cinematography shines in this film, where he captures the LX as a symbol of stability and strength through life’s journeys.
In support of these filmmakers, Lexus provided not only the vehicles but also all the filming equipment, set and crew, embodying their commitment to creativity. Canadians can watch and vote on their favourite film between October 17 and October 31, with the People’s Choice award winner receiving $10,000. Voting takes place at Lexus.ca/FilmMastersChallenge, giving audiences a chance to celebrate emerging Canadian talent.
Lexus’s dedication to quality and community was evident at every turn during the event. By supporting these Canadian storytellers, Lexus demonstrated that luxury is more than a vehicle: it’s an ethos. From a lineup of advanced, electrified vehicles to a passion for promoting arts and culture, this event was a reminder that Lexus is more than a car brand—it’s a bridge between innovation, creativity and Canadian pride.
