Every year, Canada’s Walk to Fame (CWOF) hosts an exceptional, VIP gala in the heart of Toronto. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre transforms itself into a celebrity gala that attracts actors, musicians, TV hosts, creatives and CEOs from pretty much every industry. Canada’s most renowned icons show up on the Red Carpet, dressed in their absolute best for this black tie event.
The 2025 edition was no different. This year’s inductees represented the very best across CWOF’s five pillars of achievement: Arts & Entertainment; Science, Technology & Innovation; Sports & Athletics; Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy; and Humanitarianism. The event was co-hosted by Arisa Cox and Madison Tevlin.
There were 9 honourees this year:
- Liona Boyd – five-time Juno Award-winning “First Lady of Guitar”
- Dr. Tirone David – world-renowned cardiovascular surgeon
- Shawn Levy – acclaimed writer, director and producer (Deadpool & Wolverine, Stranger Things, Night at the Museum)
- Dr. Samantha Nutt – humanitarian and global health leader, founder and President of War Child Canada
- Our Lady Peace – multi-platinum, diamond-selling rock band
- Isadore Sharp – Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts founder and philanthropist
- Mike Weir – first Canadian golfer to win The Masters
- Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) – the largest public film festival in the world
- Tonya Williams – award-winning actress, producer and advocate
Throughout the evening, each honouree was introduced by a special video reel that highlighted their incredible achievements over the years. All reels featured interviews with people who have worked directly with and have been inspired by the honourees. These reels were narrated by iconic Canadians and international voices, including Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Rick Mercer, Hugh Jackman, Billy Corgan, Peter Mansbridge and Heather Hiscox.
In addition, there were special surprise tributes from global A-listers, including Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Ben Stiller, Col. Chris Hadfield and Alex Lifeson.
Following the reel and surprise tributes, special guests were invited on stage to present the award to each honouree. In all cases, these guests shared a special connection to the award recipient: be it their family member, former colleague or mentee. This year, the presenter roster included Tom Cochrane, K.C. Collins, Chantal Kreviazuk, Julie Nesrallah, Deepa Mehta and George Stroumboulopoulos.
While guests enjoyed a delicious multi-course menu, they were also treated to live performances by Sam Roberts, The Tenors and the 2025 Inductees Our Lady Peace.
The energy at the gala was exceptional. At several points throughout the evening, there wasn’t a single dry eye in the room. This tends to happen at the event every year.
The theme of Canadian pride, resilience and perseverance was strongly felt. It’s no surprise then that the gala will light up screens, today, on Canada Day with the national broadcast premiere on CBC and CBC Gem. Premiering at 7 p.m. EST (8 AT, 8:30 NT), viewers will be invited to the front-row of one of the country’s most inspiring and talked-about events. Don’t miss it!
