Holiday season is almost around the corner! Invitations to parties, cocktails, galas and a variety of special dinners are quickly flooding in. You may have already lined up the outfits, but one thing that many of us leave till the end is inevitably the hair. It’s so easy to revert to the basic hair straightener or curler, that we get stuck doing the same thing over and over again.
That’s why this season we decided to collaborate with Redken Canada and Jorge Joao – one of the best hairstylists in the country and Redken’s International Performing Artist. Exclusively for FAJO’s readers, Jorge created 4 glamorous, contrasting looks that will inspire you to get creative with your hair this season.
It’s early November and you will have plenty of time to play around with each look, and maybe even add your own personal touches to it.
To simplify things further, Jorge listed the Redken products he used to create each look!
We will unveil two of his creations this week, and the other two next week.
Look 1 – A Runway-Inspired Ponytail
Step 1. This look is all about dividing your hair into sections. Start by creating a square section on top of the head. Make sure you do it from the corner of the eyes to the back of the head.
Step 2. Now, create two sections on the sides.
Step 3. Divide the square section and do it diagonally. Crisscross and pin behind the ears with both pieces.
Step 4. It’s time to pull it all together. You will need to wrap everything around the ponytail. Use the side pieces to pick up the ends of the top sections and wrap around the base of the ponytail.
Step 5. Do the same on the other side, then pin and spray for hold. And — voilà!
Products to create this look: Redken’s Fashion Work 12 and Shine Flash 02.
Look 2 – A Trendy Bun
Step 1. This look takes a modern approach on the bun look. Start by creating a horseshoe section on top of the head. You will need a lot of clips to keep it all neatly together. Once you have created the horseshoe shape, clip away.
Step 2. Create a low ponytail with the remainder of the hair.
Step 3. Wrap the ponytail around its base to create a bun, leaving the ends out. The ends should neatly stick out on top and the bottom, to create an artistic feel.
Step 4. Take the top horseshoe section and pin down on top of the bun; then wrap the ends into itself to create a loop. Remember to leave the ends out to give you a feathered effect.
Step 5. Spray with Redken’s Triple Take 32 for a long-lasting hold. And you are good to go!
Products to create this look: Redken’s Satinwear 04, Shineflash 02 and Triple Take 32.
Stay tuned for next week, when we unveil the other 2 looks created by Jorge!
