A touch of magic at Fairmont Grand Del Mar

December 11, 2019

The moment we drove through the gates of the exquisite and grandiose acres at Fairmont Grand Del Mar, I immediately felt like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin. We were greeted by the kindest man who wished us a pleasant stay and said something that really stuck with me: “We hope we exceed all of your expectations, Ms.Yakobi.” And did they ever.

Welcome to Fairmont Grand Del Mar.

When rating the service and staff at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, I would give it a ten on five. All staff members are courteous, kind and genuine. They seem to really love their workplace and it transcends through the way they treat all guests.

Attention to detail is something that the Fairmont truly excels at. Bottles of water are available at every corner free of charge for hotel guests, the gym and spa are stocked with fresh fruit and scents of eucalyptus, while the grounds are perfectly trimmed and sparkling. The hotel has two main pools, the relaxation pool across the spa that is reserved for adults only (and a phenomenal hot whirlpool), and a larger double pool on the opposite side that welcomes families and kids.

Right across from the beautifully trimmed acres is the golf course, which houses a hiking and a running trail that is open to guests between sunrise and sundown. Should you decide to embark on a run or a hike, a map of the trails is easily accessible at the front desk. After carefully explaining the route prior to my 10k run, the front desk had a fresh yogurt parfait prepared and waiting for me right upon my return. As mentioned above, they do not miss a single detail!

Inspired by the legacy of Addison Mizner, an iconic figure in the world of architecture and a true master in the art of Mediterranean design, the revolutionary design vision of Warren Sheets is showcased throughout this exquisite resort. The architecture here is truly spectacular: think graceful arched doorways, gold leaf and wrought iron detail, rustic wood beams, hand-stenciled ceilings and hand-carved marble. The rooms at this 5-star property are spacious and luxurious, and beds are featherlike. Our room opened up to beautiful garden grounds, where we were able to sit out and relax while sipping on a fresh morning Nespresso. Need more slippers or a kettle? Not a problem, the Fairmont has you covered with all your needs swiftly delivered to your room.

The Fairmont Grand Del Mar also houses three incredible restaurants: Amaya, Clubhouse Grill and Addison. We had the pleasure of trying out the glorious breakfast at the Amaya terrace, which included a perfectly balanced selection of healthy choices, as well as the most decadent lobster eggs benedict we have tried to date. For a cozier vibe and a party on the weekends, Club M is the place to be. A must try are their fish tacos (available either to be grilled or battered), and their house chips with dip are also fantastic.

Another thing that the Fairmont takes very seriously is their beverage selection. Did you know that they have a partnership with Patron, and have their very own limited-edition tequila available to savour for guests? The lobby bar also has a fine selection of cigars readily available for you to try on their patio, while you indulge in Patron or a specialty crafted cocktail made in house by their incredible mixology team.

So, if you want to feel like princess Jasmine, book your stay at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar immediately. We can’t guarantee that you’ll meet your Aladdin, but the Fairmont will definitely be your genie, granting every wish.
