The Village is a popular boutique in Westfield London Shopping Centre. It hosts many luxury fashion and jewelry brands, including Burberry, Louis Vuitton, De Beers, Miu Miu, Hugo Boss, M Missoni, Fendi and Mulberry.
Earlier in April, the store was completely transformed for a day in order to bring in all the excitement of the circus! Walking among designer clothes were fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, musicians, acrobats and magicians, and there was no shortage of delectable treats, such as cotton candy.
The entrance, decorated to look like the tent of a real-life circus performance, had stilt-walkers greet everyone, as they entered the “Fashion Playground”. While sharing top trends for the season, Vogue and GQ fashion and beauty experts offered personalized styling advice, as well as beauty and grooming tips.
Upon entering, I immediately spotted models and Cheska from the popular reality show “Made in Chelsea”. Later, I discovered that the renowned designer Henry Holland was also in attendance!
Although the dress code was said to be “glamorous”, most of the crowd (except Cheska) were dressed professional and chic — likely coming straight from work since the event started at 6 p.m. Some standout outfits were cool-tailored print trousers (very on trend) with blazers and wedges. Others opted for a more casual look, with slouchy T-shirts, leather jackets and slipper-style flats to counteract the loud prints on their pants and skirts. I saw a few lovely jersey maxi dresses too and large statement-necklaces (which I personally can’t get enough of at the moment — they just “make” an outfit!).
There were many one-off store specials and discounts that evening, including prizes, goodie bags and collection previews, while the circus performers and models handed out complimentary champagne, cocktails and canapés.
I certainly couldn’t resist an exclusive shopping event like this. The circus theme brought everything together and made the fashion party even more fun!
