The dresses have been pressed and stored. The tulle has been puffed and fluffed. The dust has settled on the runways. Another Bridal Fashion Week has come and gone in New York City, leaving in its wake dreams for brides to come.
Last month, the designs of dozens of designers graced the runways with their take on the spring 2018 bride.
At FAJO, we picked some of our favourites.
Celebrating 20 years with Reem Acra
Couture. Daring. Sophisticated. For her 20th anniversary collection, Acra was inspired by the timeless Breakfast at Tiffany’s film and the character’s relationship with the store itself.
Think long, sleek silhouettes for the bride daring to wear black on her wedding day, with dazzling details and a mix of soft and structured silhouettes. Acra continues the black theme throughout the collection in her more traditional dresses.
The soft silhouettes hug the brides’ curves, and the traditional princess cuts have a touch of lightness with lace details, adding an ethereal feel to the looks.
Marchesa: soft and romantic
Oh, Marchesa! Whenever we think of the label founded by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, we think of how the pair can seamlessly blend vintage and modern. The New York-based designers did it again this year. Dressing their brides in soft laces, even with some in figure-hugging silhouettes, the loose dresses and layered looks were very reminiscent of the 60s and 70s.
