Flashback to 1981, when a journalist named Bernard Lengellé visits his local air market in Avignon, France, and notices the long lines at stalls that sell fragrant blocks of Provence region’s renowned olive oil soaps. Inspired, he decides to create his own line of honeysuckle-scented cleansing bars, which he names Le Petit Marseillais, in his homage to a local soap company that dates back to the ‘20s. And the rest, as they say, is history.
After several corporate changes, the company was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in the early 2000s, and became increasingly popular in the Mediterranean region, as well as in North Africa and Easter Europe. This year, the brand is launching in Canada and its body washes will now be sold in 21 countries around the globe.
The scent of the body washes is bound to turn the shower experience into something reminiscent of a large flower field. Five distinct scents are available to suit a variety of tastes, and feature: orange blossom, white peach and nectarine, vanilla milk, lavender honey, and milk and poppy. The line is inspired by the nature and culture of Southern France, aiming to deliver true joie de vivre in a single bottle.
Le Petit Marsellais is currently the number one-selling body wash brand in France.
