FAJO Photoshoot: Holiday beauty trends for winter 2016/2017

December 19, 2016

As the holidays roll around and snow frames the streets of Toronto, the FAJO beauty team has pulled together bold and playful hair and make-up looks to brighten up your winter season once again this year!

Take a look at our 6 glamorous looks, all paired with the stunning dresses by Canadian designer Narces.

Graphic Eyes

We love graphic liner as a way to add a bit of creative expression to any make-up look.

Simply take your favourite, ultra creamy gel or liquid eyeliner in any colour, and add accents of your choice to your make-up. Use bold, parallel lines for clean looks; perpendicular, intersection shapes for something edgier; or dots and symbols strategically placed around the eye area for a  softer, ethereal look. Pair with lashes of your choice and a non-competing nude lip.

Slick your hair off the face in a low pony tail or alternatively go for a softer, voluminous poof to contrast the edgy make-up. Either way, this look will surely have you standing out in a crowd.

Goth Glam

Make your lips the star of the show by lining and filling in your lips with a bold, deep lip liner and matching lipstick (rock the black lipstick if you’re feeling daring). Eye make-up can be kept to a minimum with this look or paired up with soft, fluffy lashes to add a more complementary, feminine look to the eyes that will contrast the super edgy lips.

We would pair this beauty look with the same hairstyle as the Graphic Eyes look.

Glitter Lashes with a Pop of Colour

Who doesn’t love glitter for the holidays, or any other day of the year, really? Prime your lower lashes with a thick coat of lash primer and brush on a loose, eye-safe glitter of your choice, with a clean, disposable spoolie brush. Use a bright, neon lipstick for your pout and an overall, playful and youthful look.

Slick your roots down in a middle part, with large, voluminous waves, curls or teased hair to create a ‘70s, throwback-inspired look that works perfectly with more feminine make-up.

Twiggy Lashes

We can’t get enough of the lash trend that has been taking the social media beauty community by storm for the past few years. Thankfully, perfectly sculpted lashes are not what’s on trend—a bit of haphazardly applied clumpy mascara is not only acceptable, but welcomed!

Layer on two coats of mascara and then glue on a pair of wispy falsies of your choice. Follow with another coat or two of mascara on the top and lower lashes for a bold, Twiggy-esque look. Pat your bright lipstick on with your finger for a blended, stained effect or use a matte, nude lipstick for the complete Twiggy look.

We would pair this beauty look with the same hairstyle as the Glitter Lashes with a Pop of Colour look.

Sultry Smoky Eyes

We love smoky eyes because they’re not only super sexy but also super easy to achieve. Simply sweep a deep brown shadow across your lid and blend into your crease. Use a kohl eyeliner in deep brown or black on your waterline, and smudge into your lower lash line with a pencil brush. Pair with a nude lip for an overall, softer look.

With bold, sultry eyes we like to keep the hair off the face to freshen up the look. Wear your hair back in a lo-po for a sexier touch, or roll it up in a high sock-bun for a more sophisticated vibe.

Glossy, Bold Lips

Although matte lips are still in, the glossy look has come back with a vengeance. Red lips are always beautiful during the holiday/winter season.

Use your favourite red lipstick and layer on your glossiest lip lacquer (shimmery glosses encouraged!). Complement with subdued, natural eyes with a soft shimmery shade on the lids to keep the focus on that beautiful pout.

We would pair this beauty look with the same hairstyle as the Sultry Smoky Eyes look.
