With the Toronto International Film Festival in full swing, celebrities have flocked to the city to once again hit the Red Carpet. Between press conferences, exclusive parties and interviews, a little pampering goes a long way. And what could be more fun than heading to a lounge full of swag, cocktails and even a virtual reality escape.
We stopped by the Tastemakers Lounge ahead of its opening from Sept.10 to Sept.15 at the InterContinental Hotel to get the star treatment. Founded by Debra Goldblatt-Sadowski, president of rock-it promotions, and Leesa Butler, founder of Divine Lab, Tastemakers was the first Canadian-owned gifting suite. Renowned for promoting some of the best local and international products, it’s no wonder past guests have included Brad Pitt, Woody Harrelson, Ellie Goulding and Samuel L. Jackson.
This year, Sorel was one of the Tastemakers Lounge’s title sponsors and showcased a range of fashionable fall boots as well as their new apparel line, featuring European goose down coats. Guests of the lounge will be able to take home a pair of Sorel boots. Picking one pair, on the other hand, is not an easy decision considering their impressive line of stylish fall footwear. While Sorel is best known for appealing to winter warriors, the brand is taking a notable step towards offering chic footwear for milder seasons. From their classic wedges to heeled rubber booties inspired by watching women in stilettos jump over puddles in New York, Sorel’s fall line is designed for those who don’t want to compromise comfort or style while dressing for the elements.
Beauty and health brands participating in this year’s Tastemakers Lounge include Saharjan, a Canadian organic beauty brand specializing in ayurvedic skincare, Tweezerman and Toronto chiropractor Dr. Liza of The [Fix], who is offering guests personalized adjustments and clinic gift certificates.
With beverages being served by Pommies Cider, Rhone Valley Wines and The Rémy Cointreau Group, the lounge is a great spot to unwind. Decorated by Toronto-based designer Lisa Canning, the atmosphere is pleasant for mingling and relaxing. Visitors can even don a virtual reality headset to step into one of Elle Canada’s photo shoots.
On the way out, guests can take home a Hudson’s Bay striped tote filled with goodies from all the participating brands including Phantom Glass and Plan C. After some cocktails, a massage and a few trendy new items, we can safely say the stars will be heading to the red carpet with a smile on their face.
