KAVUT, a newly launched online boutique based in Toronto, Ont., offers a range of carefully curated semi-fine and fine jewelry, as well as many chic gifts, from around the world. It also ships internationally.
The online store carries a number of hard-to-find international brands that are exclusive to North America and selected based on their design and beauty, instead of their popularity. Some notable designers include Adeline Cacheux, who was chosen to design jewelry for the prestigious French silverwear maison Christofle, Berlin-based Ina Beissner, whose fine jewelry is carried by Colette in Paris, and Melanie Georgacopoulos, who is known for her unique pieces and exquisite craftsmanship.
“I had trouble finding fine chic jewelry that reflected my love of high-fashion,” says Noriko Kasai, owner and buyer at KAVUT. “I was tired of all the classic designs and didn’t want any of the low-quality costume jewelry out there.”
The name, KAVUT, derives from the protective armor Japanese warriors used to wear, to reflect a belief in being strong and empowered. The boutique’s selection offers desirable and unexpected pieces intended to be worn regardless of current trends and convention.
Kasai selects each line “for someone who enjoys all the fierce runway designers, but also enjoys street wear,” while keeping in mind high-quality pieces that can be worn for a long time. Prices range from $30 for candles to a couple hundred for semi-fine jewelry and up to $1,500 for fine jewelry.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, those looking for a gift for a loved one could find the perfect piece in a few simple clicks.
