On Jan.15, eBay Canada launched an exclusive Valentine’s Collective in collaboration with three Canadian jewelry designers. It features limited-edition pieces – many at new price points.
The collection includes bracelets, earrings and necklaces by Dean Davidson Designs, Foxy Originals and Rebekah Price Design. There are also cufflinks available for men.
Each designer has contributed five pieces – priced at $100 or less – that are exclusive to eBay for the duration of the sale. The sale ends Feb.28, or when inventory runs out.
“The capsule collections are true reflections of each designer’s aesthetic,” says Andrea Stairs, country manager of eBay Canada. “They offer Canadians a unique opportunity to own something very special.”
Foxy Originals offers a set of popular pieces brought back from its archives. Stairs says that many of these designs are exclusive because they haven’t been on the market for several years. She adds that the collection includes a new rendition of the Love and be Loved medallion necklace, also drawn from the archives, that has never been produced in the gold tone, but is available on eBay.
Completely original designs by Dean Davidson Designs, featuring gold-plated brass and blue Swarovski crystals, will be available at a first-ever price point of $100 or less. The collection includes a bangle, earrings and necklaces, and has a recurring use of bold geometric shapes and clean lines.
Rebekah Price Design offers reinterpretations of signature designs priced more affordably. The collection consists of refined silver jewelry accented with ruby, rose and clear Swarovski crystals.
Stairs says that the Valentine’s Collective is an example of “eBay Canada’s commitment to delivering unique and inspiring fashion to its community of users.”
All items will be sold at fixed costs and are eligible for free shipping across Canada.
Designer partnerships are not something new to eBay. This is their second collaboration exclusive to Canada as well as Canadian designers. The e-commerce site previously worked with preloved on a set of exclusive sweaters and wool accessories, a couple of years ago. The new program also follows a recent and highly successful Holiday Collective, which featured a set of “giftable” items by seven U.S. designers, including Billy Reid and Jonathan Adler. eBay has also collaborated with renowned designers including Derek Lam and Rebecca Minkoff in the past.
One reason behind these designer collaborations is that eBay gains “the ability to let people know well in advance, the kind of inventory that we’ll have on the site,” says Stairs. “It’s also a way of illustrating the kind of fashion that is available on eBay.”
As a marketplace with more than 350 million buyer listings at any given time, Stairs says that it’s easy for consumers to find whatever they’re looking for.
“We’re thrilled to be working with three fantastic Canadian jewelry designers,” says Stairs. “It’s the first time we’ve done anything for Valentine’s day which is fun!”
