For the 19th year in a row, the Interior Design Show officially opened yesterday with a large party at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Canadian and international designers, media professionals, fashion insiders and Toronto party people all came out to explore the biggest design fair in Canada.
Attendees could sample food and drinks from local vendors, restaurants and caterers. Sampling booths were dispersed throughout the massive MTCC space and caused a lot of excitement, with guests lining up for focaccias, falafels and ceviches.
Exhibitors at the event varied from global companies like Miele, Bosch and Volvo, and international publishers, to small local design brands and vendors.
Interior Design Show is not only one of the biggest annual parties in Toronto, but it also holds seminars for industry people and public talks by acclaimed professionals. This year, many designers whose clients include A-list celebrities will be in attendance to share their insider knowledge. This includes Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Nicholas Haslam.
David Adjaye is the IDS17 International Guest of Honour. He is recognized as a leading architect of his generation. Adjaye has held major exhibitions in Brussels, Tokyo, Munich and Chicago. He will be delivering a talk in Toronto today.
IDS 2017 will feature different themes and topics every day, and will run until Sunday. You don’t want to miss it.
