It’s no secret that I have a special love for anything Parisian, and enjoy visiting the Fashion Capital of the World. Widely considered as the fashion leader since the 16th century, there is just so much in Paris that no other place can offer. That’s why many excellent brands were born there, including Maje.
The cult-favourite, Maje was created by Judith Milgrom in 1998. “I created Maje for women like me,” says Milgrom. “Women who constantly change. Who like to be elegant but who won’t let others stop them from being who they are.”
She adds that she owes her success to three powerful women. “My grandmother, my mother and my sister. They taught me everything I know and I’m lucky to have them.” As a young girl, she used to use scraps of her grandmother’s fabrics to make dresses for her dolls.
Almost 30 years since its creation, Maje continues to be a top international brand, now with over 600 stores worldwide. In Canada, this includes locations in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
The brand embodies a feminine silhouette that features key French aesthetics: elegance, minimalism with subtle twists, and glamour.
Maje’s clothes are timeless. No matter the season, they are transferable and wearable all year long. Here are some photos of me wearing their fabulous pink blazer from the spring/summer 2024 collection: just look at how lovely it looks against the fall landscape! I wore it this week to several meetings, VIP previews and media events; and it worked perfectly at all of them.
Sustainability is also key to Maje’s approach, where an item of clothing is only considered eco-friendly when at least 50% of its composition is actually certified eco-friendly. This is important and valuable for any responsible consumer.
