With the White Cashmere Collection runway show set for Sept.25, FAJO Magazine was recently invited to the exclusive preview of the couture designs.

The dresses, crafted completely out of Cashmere bathroom tissue, were being photographed by celebrity designer Caitlin Cronenberg at the annual Cashmere pre-show shoot, which invited media for a behind-the-scenes experience.

For its 10th anniversary celebration, this year’s collection features a star-studded cast of 20 Canadian designers, Cashmere’s largest show yet.

Since 2004, the White Cashmere Collection has showcased more than 100 of Canada’s top fashion designers. This year’s theme is The Pink and White Gala, celebrating the return of the limited edition Pink Cashmere bathroom tissue. Twenty-five cents from every package sold during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event brings together established and emerging designers, who were inspired by “the courage and strength of women affected by breast cancer.”

Returning as curator for the 2013 show, Farley Chatto has assembled some of Canadian fashion’s biggest names, including David Dixon, Sunny Fong and Lucian Matis. Chatto will also be crafting his own pink and white creation.

New to the show are Newfoundland native and one-of-a-kind dress guru Rod Philpott; former international relief-aid worker and the creative mind behind MICALLA, Camilla Jorgensen; self-taught knitwear designer Dylan Uscher; and high-end ready-to-wear designer Duy Nguyen. The event will also feature Rita Tesolin jewelry and David Dunkley of KC’s Hats.

The finished collection will be revealed this fall at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, in front of an invitation-only audience.
