Gift ideas for a special woman with Tissot’s Ballade collection

May 12, 2017

An elegant watch that complements any clothing is a unique find. It makes a solid accessory and a memorable gift. It’s a collector’s item, yet it becomes a core part of your daily life.

This spring, renowned Swiss brand Tissot launched its Ballade collection, which is an excellent present not only for a fashion-driven woman, but anyone who craves a staple addition to their wardrobe.

Since 1853, Tissot’s timepieces have been the epitome of classic romanticism, highlighting state-of-the-art technical advancements in the watch industry. The Ballade collection is no different. It features the brand’s first watches that use a silicone-balance spring technology (making the timepieces more resistant and guaranteeing longevity), combined with a COSC-certified Powermatic 80 movement (which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve).

With Ballade, Tissot marries modern technology with traditional touches, such as a Clous de Paris on the bezel. Available in a variety of grey, white and black shades, the pieces from this line serve as an accessory that can seamlessly transition from day to night and is a lovely accompaniment for any outfit, be it a suit, a cocktail dress or even a formal gown.

All Ballade pieces are also water-resistant up to a pressure of 50 metres (165 ft), include a two-year international warranty, and feature a solid stainless steel bracelet or leather strap with butterfly clasp and push-buttons.

Our favourite pick is Tissot Ballade III Lady. Retailing for CAD$495 at Hudson’s Bay, this piece has elongated skeletal hands with extended points that give it a modern touch.

Details matter and all Ballade pieces arrive in a branded Tissot box, with a small gift from the brand: The Story of a Watch Company pocket-sized book, which was originally published in 2003 to mark Tissot’s 150th anniversary.

The book was created to share the brand’s history with its consumers, and it’s fascinating to see how the company went from manufacturing traditional pocket watches to the incredibly advanced timepieces of today (which, by the way, still include a modernized version of the pocket collection!).

Fragments of Tissot’s evolution.

Tissot is renowned for the quality of its timepieces around the world: it works with a variety of international organizations, and has been named the Official Timekeeper and Partner of the NBA, AFL, Tour de France and the World Championships of fencing and ice hockey.
