Vancouver’s men’s fashion week – one of Canada’s largest menswear events – celebrates recent growth and innovation in the Canadian menswear sector. Taking place Aug.10, 2013 at Hotel Le Soleil, an array of Canadian menswear designers will showcase their latest collections.
Now in its third season, MFW Vancouver is focused on mentoring emerging design talent and providing them with access to new markets. Unlike past years, international menswear designers are also welcome to show their collections this season.
“Our aim is to put a spotlight on established and emerging Canadian designers and be the bridge for international designers to break into the Canadian market,” says Jun Ramos, founder and creative director of MFW. “I want to put a spotlight on their creative innovations and show what Canadian talent is about.”
Renowned Vancouver designer, Steve Pelman of Samson Wardrobes – suit makers for 60 years and a menswear icon in Vancouver – continues to set the bar with sleek, signature suits and classic tailoring.
Returning designer Nicole Guzzo, offers edgy pieces for men looking to make a statement. Guzzo’s rock-and-roll aesthetic, which is evident in her designs, is highly influenced by her love of music.
Among this season’s international designers is Zuzana Hrubošová, who will unveil a unisex line, titled Touch & Go, that features special 3D applications which will inform blind and amblyopic people about size, colour and washing instructions in Braille.
