On Feb.13, the iconic Bryant Park Hotel in New York City showcased the latest collection of womenswear designer Korto Momolu.
For fall/winter 2012, Momolu expands her vision of femininity, elegance and futurism, and draws inspiration from starlets, fashion icons and jetsetters. Her line is called Monaco and consists of 14 pieces.
She brings forward many floor-length flowing gowns that are glamourous and sophisticated. Black, silver, grey and ivory shades predominate in this collection. The fabrics of choice are silk, wool and cotton.
Momolu’s line also signals a return of knitted scarves (a beautiful number in bright yellow) and sequined pieces (both tops and skirts). Her main inspiration for Monaco were Grace Kelly and Brigitte Bardot.
Momolu also teamed up with Simone I. Smith, a renowned jewelry designer and wife of LL Cool J, for the presentation. Smith showcased her delicate and creatively-shaped jewelry at the event.
