John Muscat, president and co-founder of celebrated Canadian knitwear label, LINE Knitwear, will be taking on the prestigious role of the 2016 Canadian Wool Chair.
It was announced last week that Muscat will be leading the Canadian Wool Council’s efforts to identify and tackle the challenges facing Canada’s wool industry. The Canadian Wool Council operates under the Campaign for Wool, a global initiative started by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to educate consumers about the natural and sustainable benefits of wool.
Muscat is one of the country’s fashion leaders, with his company LINE Knitwear recently nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards 2016. He will succeed Canadian designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran of Pink Tartan, who has held the position since the Campaign first launched in Canada in 2014.
“I am honoured to be leading the Canadian Wool Council as Wool Chair this year,” Muscat said. “Having worked on the wholesale and design side for over 20 years, I’ve had the opportunity to see some of the issues facing the wool industry firsthand. The council will play a crucial role in stimulating a dialogue between individuals and businesses involved at every level of the wool chain, so we can pinpoint the tangible challenges and turn them into opportunities for advancement.”
This May, Muscat will be joining PCC and International Campaign supporters and partners in London, United Kingdom, where they will be meeting with The Prince of Wales to discuss the global wool industry and other aspects of The Prince’s Canadian charitable work.
