The amount of people rocking anchor, star, shark and rose tattoos that night on Queen West was astonishing! This was all thanks to Sailor Jerry Rum, who along with Stella Artois beer sponsored the Overdrive TIFF Launch Party at the Drake Hotel on Sept.6.

In order to get “inked” with a permanent sign of support for the rum company, guests had to make it inside the event, come back out to the Sailor Jerry mobile tattoo shop housed in a cool vintage RV, and put their name into a draw. If they were lucky enough to get chosen, they were texted and had five minutes to make it back for the very exciting “dart-throwing”. The tattoo artists themselves would toss a dart at one of the four aforementioned Sailor Jerry signs, which then would get eternally etched onto one’s body. Keeping in mind that these were real tattoos, it was astounding how many people lined up to participate!

To continue the theme, very sailor-like tattooed barbers from Crows Nest Barbershop were providing complimentary trendy haircuts on the Drake rooftop.

Stella Artois chose a more traditional, yet still popular, approach to promotion, providing guests with free drinks, an array of beautiful promo girls in elegant red dresses to look at, and a take-home Stella glass with one’s name engraved on it.

Celebrity sightings included Adam Driver from Girls, Adrian Grenier, Tom Green, Kenny Hotz and Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, who stopped by to support bandmate Brendan Canning who performed and DJ-ed during the evening.
