Stepping into shoetopia with Damiano Marini

June 2, 2017

Life is good, colourful and sexy—especially if you’re wearing a pair of shoes by Damiano Marini.

For spring/summer 2017, the designer creates a vibrant mélange, inspired by his personal reflections on cultural melting pots and travel.

One of his primary materials of choice is refined leather. Pointy and peep toes take centrestage, combined with strap elements and an explosion of colour (think merlot red, lilac, turquoise and magenta). Python is superimposed with denim and PVC, and sky-high stilettos with flats.

The advertising campaign is upbeat and fun, featuring long-legged models whose lower torsos are juxtaposed against various sports’ and leisure-related locations: tennis courts, swimming pools and more.

A Rome-native, Marini has worked for Italian luxury brand Casadei before starting his own business in 2015. He has a degree in economics and this is reflected in his creations and their “sellable” nature. Although highly creative and glamourous, this new collection is very wearable and well-suited for both European and North American markets.
