Whether it’s icy air, indoor heat or a quick blow-dry, many of us are looking at our hair and wondering where its moisture has gone.
Aveda’s Dry Remedy System, a line recently launched by the beauty company, comes at the right time. The System features a shampoo, conditioner, hair-mask and leave-in oil. The products are aimed at moisturizing dry, brittle hair.
Inspired by the damp forests of Brazil, the line’s key ingredient, Buriti oil, comes from the fruit of the Moriche Palm — a tree found in Brazil’s wettest areas. Scented with a floral and herbal aroma that combines lavender, bergamot and ginger lily, the line also contains pomegranate and olive oils.
The lightweight formulas moisturize without leaving behind greasy residue or weighing the hair down, unlike many serums and treatments which rely on silicone to impart moisture. Silicone is also known to enhance shine, rather than intensely hydrate your coiffure.
The line’s leave-in oil was recently used by Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Global Creative Director, while styling the Stella McCartney Autumn 2014 Presentation in New York. She created two looks, keeping long hair down and fashioning a “barely there” wave — by twirling sections and setting them with a little heat — and putting short hair up in a loose, undone chignon, finishing both with the Dry Remedy Moisturizing Oil.
Here are some photos from the event that will help you create these looks at home.
