Fashion label Ana Locking‘s spring/summer 2015 collection, “The Magic Mountain,” draws inspiration from Thomas Mann’s novel of the same name. Designer Ana Gonzalez creates a sense of nostalgia for Old Europe, while channelling the sleek sophistication of American pop iconography.

Mirroring the Swiss Alps where Mann’s novel is set, white colour dominated the runway with snow crystals appearing on some pieces, representing alpine mountain peaks. Shades of visceral red, black, midnight blue and sanatorium green were also displayed.

In terms of fabrics and textures, the collection featured handmade needlepoint to create white flowers, hand-painted designs on georgette, and white tulle and fringe.
