It’s officially patio season!
Summer’s arrival signals that we should all head outdoors, and this season we decided to speak with the Style & Trends Director Cindy Jardim from Lowe’s Canada about some of the latest design trends that we can all implement in our homes, whether indoors or outdoors.
What are the key interior design trends this spring/summer?
One key trend for consumers is replicating interior design styles in your outdoor space, bringing accessories and the overall décor styling outside.
The Lowe’s 2018 spring/summer patio trends have been curated to reflect four unique themes exclusive to Lowe’s Canada: Tailored Tranquility, Rustic Roots, Globally Grounded and Urban Mode.
What is one home accessory that can quickly make a difference in any indoor space?
Pillows offer a perfect opportunity to add pops of colour and bold patterns to any indoor space.
What is the key colour this season?
We have incorporated black as an accent colour in one of our new spring/summer patio themes—Globally Grounded—this year, as we’ve seen its prominence in indoor décor trends previously. Injecting black into patio furniture and décor accents adds a sense of sophistication, while still leaving room to layer colour and brightness options.
If someone wanted to do a small makeover in their house or condo, what would you say are the recommended starting steps?
For those looking for a small renovation, it is important to consider which room(s) of the house or condo you want to spend most of your time in. These areas will likely offer the quickest feeling of accomplishment and pride once the work is complete.
If you’re the type who loves to be outdoors, creating a backyard reading nook with an Edencourt Cushioned Love Seat and outdoor rug could become your new oasis. For those seeking a colour revamp, changing paint colours and room accessories is a great option too! For example, Lowe’s four themes include corresponding Pantone colours that we have hand-selected to match your preferences.
