On June 12, the last night of Montreal’s much anticipated Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2011 weekend, seven fashionable business women who call themselves The Sirens hosted the first-ever Signature Grand Prix: Uniting Fashion and Formula 1 event.

Organized by All Star Society in partnership with Montreal VIP and Time-twister entertainment, the evening helped raise money for the Dynamic Theater Factory. This Montreal based non-profit organization “is dedicated to excellence in education, through creative and professional acting training, serving young people of all ages and from all walks of life since 1998.”

Grand Prix-themed, the event was held at the Espace Griffintown, a vast and rugged space reminiscent of a parking garage.

Two cars were displayed inside, including a red Ferrari in the middle of the catwalk stage.

By the time the fashion show started, the Belvedere Vodka was flowing at the neatly arranged bottle service areas and the guests were happily mingling.

The 25 contestants of the Miss Chic 2011 model search, who were chosen earlier that week ,showcased the Aqua Di Lara designer swimwear collection. The girls had race car numbers drawn on their thighs and were made up as Race Flag Girls. The swimsuits came in black, gold, yellow, orange, purple and various combinations thereof. The swimsuits’plunging necklines and clever use of cut-outs could make any girl feel like a swimsuit model.

Half an hour later, the 8 Count dance crew took the stage with an original Steve Bolton routine, who cheered on the dancers from the sidelines.  As one of the So You Think You Can Dance Poland choreographers and a legend in the hip hop world, he knew what would ignite the crowd, and the eclectic mix of traditional hip hop and oldies music made the piece even more entertaining.

After another pause, the models once again took to the stage, in their Aqua Di Lara finest, for the announcement of the top 10 finalists.  The winner will be announced on June 15.

Among the audience was Rana Khaled, a Miss Universe Canada contestant, who is hoping to snatch the prestigious crown later this month in Toronto.

With DJ Alexei Sopin’s Vocal House music in the background, the after party continued until the wee hours of the morning.
