Pink Tartan, fall/winter 2016

March 23, 2016

Kimberley Newport-Mimran is in agreement with the marketing approach adopted last month by Burberry and Tom Ford: for her recent collection, the designer lets the consumer shop the pieces straight from the runway.

Although Newport-Mimran has traditionally done her shows at Toronto Fashion Week, she chose to do a presentation off-site this season. A week after TFW wrapped up, she collaborated with Holt Renfrew and hosted several hundred VIP clients, media members and celebrities at Holt’s flagship store in Yorkville last night.

The third floor of the building was transformed into an interactive runway—rows of white benches lined up the room, allowing models to walk around in a zig-zag manner. This way, as we overhead someone saying, “Every seat is a great seat tonight, and everyone in the audience gets front row.” This was strategically planned by Newport-Mimran, who named her fall/winter 2016 collection “front row” as well.
