Celebrating its 21st birthday and second year in collaboration with Vogue Magazine, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is held annually in the heart of Australia’s fashion capital, Melbourne. Playing host to some of the larger names in the industry—such as Ted Baker and GQ—it also highlights the nation’s prolific and up-and-coming designers, including Manning Cartell, White Suede, Bec & Bridge, Jack London and LIFEwithBIRD. The week-long event includes multiple runways, designer forums, exhibitions and VIP retail events.

OnceWas graced the catwalk on closing night: designed by Belinda Glynn, the company has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most sought-after boutique brands and takes immense pride in the integrity with which it produces garments. As it continues to grow, OnceWas can now be found in small independent fashion retailers worldwide.

In the hub of the city, the catwalk was placed within a transparent dome, giving pedestrians the chance to discern the statuesque silhouettes. The interior was decorated with blossoming greenery. While the audience sipped on champagne and tweeted away, OnceWas featured its Coast and Linear 2015 collections. Florals, stripes and mosaics suited for both formal and casual attire dominated the event, alongside tones of cool blues, whites, greys and bold oranges.

The event included a booth where the audience was encouraged to mix and match the collection to create their own look before and after the show. A free barista cart was also on standby for anyone needing a designer pick-me-up.

The showcase was only one in over 90 events to be held throughout the week. As the catwalks get stored away and MSFW wraps up for another year, Melbourne gets ready to embrace spring with a well-assorted wardrobe.
