Some of the most charitable and fashionable people of Toronto were present at the Corus Quay event space for the annual Love Her event, which Ovarian Cancer Canada arranges in order to raise funds for and promote awareness of the disease.
Dressed in semi-formal attire, guests enjoyed lemon- and Hpnotiq-flavoured cocktails and a variety of wines. Several stations offered food, including sushi, Thai food and delicious cheese cubes that were covered in maple toffee.
The focus of the night was, of course, on fashion, with clothes generously donated by Judith & Charles and shoes by Stuart Weitzman. Canadian comedienne Jessica Holmes hosted the event and kept the show engaging with her interpretations of Liza Minnelli and Celine Dion.
During the show, guests were encouraged to share their stories. Two of them were particularly inspiring: an ovarian cancer survivor who is in her mid-twenties, and a man who regularly climbs Mount Kilimanjaro in honour of his late wife, who had ovarian cancer.
A silent auction in the middle of the room, with items ranging from jewelry to sports tickets, kept the atmosphere competitive. To conclude the evening, a number of special items were auctioned off, including a dinner for eight (prepared by Toronto’s very own firefighters), which was sold for $5,000.
