As the year is coming to an end, we review some of our favourite events this season.
Let’s travel back in time via our colourful photo galleries! In this second series, we review some of the more casual events this fall that had a great creative touch.
Fashion Flip
On Oct.17, Nicole Schwartz of Next Image Consulting and Jana Stern of From Do’s To Shoes Styling presented the second annual Fashion Flip – a charity clothing swap and shopping event in support of Sheena’s Place.
The event took place at Rosehill Lounge in midtown Toronto, with over 150 attendees.
Women of all ages participated in swapping their clothing for Fashion Flip Bucks in order to ‘purchase’ other articles of clothing for themselves.
Food and drinks were provided by The Fooding Co., iYellow Wine Club and Fruli.
Once again, Fashion Flip was thrilled to offer thousands of dollars in raffle and silent auction prizes.
Nothing Black Ever Again
Possessing both a similar philosophy and passion for design, Annie Thompson and Design Solutions held a fashion show and soiree in appreciation of their prospective clientele. The event was held within the Design Solutions furniture store on Oct.17, in the heart of the Design District.
Blending these genuinely appreciative groups of artists and designers resulted in an evening that showcased a beautiful array of artistic expression: from the work of local artists’ on the walls to the locally designed furniture, and from the beautifully created garments to the elegantly prepared hors d’oeuvres.
Being a predominantly dark new line of clothing with splashes of colour, Thompson’s line was cleverly and humorously titled Nothing Black Ever Again. The Toronto fashion designer offered modern, edgy pieces with soft feminine curves.
Overall, the new Thompson collection was dark, bold and chic. The designs both contrasted and complemented the custom design space and furniture.
