Top 5 baby and toddler-friendly restaurants in Montréal

April 30, 2017

If you’re anything like me, then having a baby doesn’t mean that life has ended. What it actually means is long lunches and brunches are now your best friend! However, not all places cater to your little one’s needs. So here’s a little guide to make it easier for you the next time you desperately need that caffeinated fix in the 514.

My son at E.A.T. at the W hotel in Montréal.

1) Maison Boulud

If you want your baby bottle warmed up, or your baby’s spoon washed and a warm towel brought to your table, look no further. Fine dining has really been redefined when you feel that not only your, but your little one’s needs have been met.

Did I mention that Maison Boulud sometimes throws in home-made warm madeleines on-the-house for you as well? They also have a great brunch, which makes it even better if you like mimosas. Reservations are recommended!

2) Être Avec Toi (E.A.T.)

Let me start off by saying, kids love the little W duckies. So look no further, as they are in abundance at this hotspot of Montréal, which is renowned for its exceptional seafood and brunches. And yes, you can take your kid with you!

The service at E.A.T. will leave you smiling as you will feel you actually have four hands for once, the food arrives fast but is yet decadent, and don’t even get me started on their fries. The décor will keep all your sights occupied, but do pay extra attention to the little one running around, so he/she doesn’t touch the lovely paintings that adorn the walls.

3) Arthurs Nosh Bar

This one has got to be my favourite brunch place ever. It’s not ideal for little babies since they do not have a changing table, but grab your toddler and head on over for some phenomenal nosh. Maybe it’s because I’m Russian and seeing syrniki on their menu just warms my heart and belly, but even my non-Russian friends simply adore Arthurs’ gravlax and chicken schnitzel.

The chef will make freshly buttered challah bread for your little one or they can also indulge in the mouthwatering cottage pancakes. The restaurant does not take reservations, but it is definitely worth every minute you need to wait.

4) KESTÉ Pizzeria

Close your eyes and open your mouth, and boom you’re in Napoli. The oven was brought in especially from Italy to make you the best, most authentic, thin-crust pizza that will leave you wanting more. KESTÉ is perfect for an early dinner with friends or family.

Do your kids like chocolate? Did I mention that this hotspot has a nutella pizza? Booster seats, high chairs and individual changing tables will make it even easier for you to bring your little ones, and the chef may even teach them how to make pizza if it’s not too busy! This family-run restaurant will make you feel right at home, and their meatballs and calamari will make you never want to leave.

5) Café Sfouf

If you’re looking for something a little bit low-key where you can chit-chat over coffee and a bite with a friend, then Café Sfouf is your golden ticket. They have a lovely kids’ corner with toys and books to keep your little ones occupied, a stroller parking if you’re on foot and a changing table.

Plus, you get a small cumin pastry called Sfouf with every beverage purchase. Perfect for chilly days to warm up with their soup or chai lattes!
