Kleenex® partners with Isaac Mizrahi for a fun collaboration!

Fun things happen when fashion designers collaborate with brands from other industries. The most recent notable partnership is between renowned designer Isaac Mizrahi and Kleenex®.

To give some background, the popular tissue company is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Some Kleenex® designs are truly iconic – this includes the two appearances in New York’s Museum of Modern Art: first in 1949, as part of the Modern Art in Your Life exhibition, and then again in 1956 in a pop art lithograph by James Rosenquist. Celebrities love Kleenex® too and have for many years: for example, a series of magazine ads from the early 1930s featured Jean Harlow, Irene Dunne, Gertrude Lawrence and Helen Hayes—just to name a few. And, believe it or not, there have been seven different versions of the Kleenex® Brand logo over the course of the company’s history—with the first four being entirely black-and-white. The signature blue colour debuted in 1961, and has been instantly recognizable ever since.

Over the years, colour has become an important part of the Kleenex® box design too, making the pieces easy to integrate into any setting – be it an office, cottage house or design studio. This vibrant element has also been fun to play with in different types of rooms around the house, and this is why the recent collaboration with Mizrahi makes the decorating element easy and entertaining.

With four different designs to choose from, our favourite is the floral version, depicted in the image above. After experimenting with incorporating it into different rooms, we came away with 5 fabulous findings:

  1. The size of the box works well in many settings, because it is very compact and non-intrusive.
  2. The colour scheme of the new Mizrahi design is bright but classic, so it blends in well with other items, while still being able to pop.
  3. The best room this design works for is the living room – it’s a cool box, so you would want your guests to see it!
  4. Ideal placement is on a coffee table and, again, because of the box’s size it would fit in perfectly even on the most miniature piece.
  5. It also fits into all shelving units – even the really narrow ones.

Not to mention that the floral pattern is perfect for spring – so it’s an easy solution for adding a trendy statement to any apartment! The new designs will launch in stores across Canada on March 17, 2014.
