Spring is in the air and Mother’s Day is just a few weeks away!

This month, we have once again partnered with L’OCCITANE en Provence to share the details on their incredible new beauty release: their first Gourmand Aromatic fragrance, called Terre de Lumière (priced at $105 and available on the L’OCCITANE en Provence website).

Representing the quintessence of Provence and the essence of the L’OCCITANE en Provence brand, the new scent embraces soft and bold femininity, transporting you to the most idyllic state of beauty – the Golden Hour in Provence, France. This is the hour immediately after sunrise and just before sunset, when the light in Provence is at its most radiant and beautiful. It’s a magical moment, and a moment of serenity that fosters a sense of well-being, both of which are reflected in the Terre de Lumière scent.

Created by three renowned perfumers at the Givaudan fragrance house, Terre de Lumière is one of the most complex and sophisticated fragrances from L’OCCITANE en Provence.

The scent starts with an aromatic and fresh burst of zesty top notes that unexpectedly melt into an infinitely gourmand heart, before settling into sensual balsamic and musky base notes. At the heart of the fragrance lies the most sought-after honey – lavender honey accord. Its delicious aroma creates layers of fruity flavours with subtle floral notes to make it a true “grand cru” honey.

Terre de Lumière also infuses light into the fragrance with exclusive raw materials, known as Orpur® (trademark registered by Givaudan SA used under license), including Bergamot, fine lavender, Ambrette seed, Beeswax, Tonka bean and Sylkolide® musk.

The bottle is iconic and elegant with a sensual shape. The cap represents a pebble picked up in a lavender field as the sun sets. It glows with light and is soaked in the colours of sunset.

The fragrance would make a delicate and memorable gift for Mother’s Day. On that note, we tested it out ourselves and asked three of our FAJO staff — #FAJOgirls who are all mothers — about what the fragrance meant to them, as well as what they personally like to do for a soothing experience that is reminiscent of the Terre de Lumière’s concept. Here is what they told us.

Julia Yakobi, Publisher, in her 50s, mother of a 34-year-old and a 27-year-old

“In addition to being FAJO’s Publisher, I’m also an abstract artist and, for me, the best way to relax is to put a clean, fresh, white canvas in front of me, grab the brushes and paint. It helps me express my inner emotions and impressions of colour and light. Also, I always feel relaxed and happy when I walk on a beach of the Mediterranean Sea, or in the colourful flower fields in the mountains. That’s one of the reasons why I love Terre de Lumière. Its vibrant and warm colours remind me of the colours that had a huge impact on many artists and the Impressionist painters, in particular. Its refreshing scent, on the other hand, is all about tranquility and relaxation.”

Ada Yakobi, Senior Reporter, in her 20s, mother of a 22-month-old

“I love relaxing with about 1.5 hours of hot yoga, for a full rejuvenation experience. Alternatively, I really enjoy a hot bubble bath, a nice big glass of red wine and some scented candles. To me — that is a moment of ultimate serenity, which I am reminded of every time I put on Terre de Lumière. I like its sweet scent and the longevity of it on my skin. ”

Tara West, Senior Photographer, in her 40s, mother of a 12-year-old and an 8-year-old

“I love to relax with a glass of wine and my diffuser with some essential oils. Definitely enjoy pairing that up with a book or a magazine. The scent of Terre de Lumière makes me immediately relax, and I love the delicious hint of bergamot in it.”

#FAJOgirls loved Terre de Lumière so much that they have partnered with L’OCCITANE en Provence to give a bottle away (valued at $105) to ONE OF OUR LUCKY READERS!
