Yesterday, Archival Toronto held an intimate Q&A with visionary designer Peter Do, who spoke about his journey in the fashion industry, his experiences working at Céline and Helmut Lang, and the inspirations behind his collections.
Known for his preference to stay out of the spotlight, often concealing his face in photos, Do lets his creations speak volumes. His designs are a masterclass in balance and simplicity, often incorporating androgynous elements and innovative fabrics like his signature spacer mesh.
Born in Biên Hòa, Vietnam, Peter Do moved to Philadelphia at 14. His passion for fashion design led him to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Post-graduation, he honed his skills under the legendary Phoebe Philo at Céline and in 2023, Do took on the role of Creative Director at Helmut Lang, aiming to infuse the brand with his minimalist ethos. By November 2024, Do announced his departure from Helmut Lang, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the brand’s legacy.
This weekend only, everyone in Toronto has a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Peter Do’s universe. The pop-up shop will showcase a selection of some of his signature pieces, exclusive items crafted specifically for the event and rare archive pieces available for purchase for the first time.
So, if you’re in Toronto and appreciate craftsmanship that combines precision, simplicity and a touch of rebellion, make your way to the Peter Do Club Pop-Up Shop located at 780 King St. West. Full details can be found on Archival Toronto’s website.
