Earlier this season, FAJO once again attended the annual Royal Ascot — Britain’s most valuable horse race championship, held over five days in Ascot, England.
The event attracts the world’s finest racehorses to compete for more than £5.5 million in prize money. Royalty from around the world is always in the audience — and the Her Majesty the Queen has attended every Royal Meeting during her reign. A special moment is at the start of every race day when Her Majesty comes down the Royal Procession.
A major fashion event in its own right, Ascot is known for its elegance upheld by the dress code. Men look dapper in waistcoats, ties, black shoes, and grey or black top hats (a necessary accessory to get into the Royal Enclosure). Female attendees sport polished and colourful looks — whether sticking with one colour theme, prints or a splash of colour in the accessories. Think flowing skirts, tailored dresses, blazers, wide-rimmed hats, and fascinators with matching small handbags and clutches. Many go above and beyond with their headpieces, making the hat the main attraction.
Always a showcase of quintessentially British fashion and style, ladies and gentlemen dress in their finest attire and head pieces for the event. This year, we decided to focus our photo gallery on our favourite hats — here are our top fashion picks!
