Perhaps the most elegant and sophisticated Red Carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival this year was for the World Premiere of Swan Song. Imagine having top ballet dancers in the country, Hollywood stars and renowned producers/filmmakers all on the same carpet: that was this event.

In attendance were the legendary Karen Kain (who was dressed by Canadian label Greta Constantine), director Chelsea McMullan, executive producers Neve Campbell and Sean O’Neill, and cast members Jurgita Dronina (Principal Dancer at the National Ballet of Canada) and Shaelynn Estrada (Corps de Ballet at the National Ballet of Canada).

Swan Song is a documentary that takes the audience inside the National Ballet of Canada’s 2022 production of Swan Lake, choreographed for the first time by the company’s artistic director Karen Kain, who famously debuted in the ballet in 1971. There are a lot of interesting background elements to this film, including the fact that the executive producer Neve Campbell began her career when she enrolled at Canada’s National Ballet School.

Back to the Red Carpet — here are our favourite looks from that day!
