Editor Access unveiled

August 1, 2013

Welcome to Editor Access!

My career in fashion journalism began 12 years ago. It all started with a freelance assignment for a British magazine in October 2001. I still remember sitting in the chair across from the Editor-in-Chief, a woman in her 30s who had a lot of poise, sharp facial features and a stern look. She stared at me with her analyzing gaze, deciding whether I was a good enough writer. Eventually, after some discussion and thinking, she nodded at me with approval.

More than a decade later, I’m now in Canada, running a large publication myself. As the Editor-in-Chief of Canada’s leading digital fashion magazine, I get invited to many fabulous events on a regular basis. Meeting celebrities has become a regular experience, and almost every day I get asked by at least a dozen of our readers what my experience is like.

After thousands of requests over the last couple of years, I have decided to launch Editor Access. So what will that mean exactly?

Editor Access will provide a first-of-its-kind editorial journalistic fashion experience in Canada that will be accessible by all our readers!

You will get to follow me, as I blog live about my exclusive interviews, providing you with a behind-the-scenes experience at fashion weeks, reviewing the best products I receive and sharing it all as it happens.

Editor Access will give you a glimpse into the Editor’s world. The beauty of this experience is that unlike any other blogs, my posts will be journalistic and I will be live-blogging every time.

I will provide you access to my life as it happens. It will be unedited, authentic and personal.

This might be in the form of a single photo with some description, a short write-up on where I am, a snapshot collage, a quote from a celebrity I just talked to and more. Full articles with incredible photography and Tweets will, of course, still be published as well. But Editor Access will let you live the life of a fashion editor whenever you want and serve as in-depth teasers of what bigger stories to expect in FAJO.

Not only will you be able to read about it but you can also ask me questions—in fact, I will personally respond to any question you ask under any of my posts!

No sign-up is necessary, it’s a no-strings-attached kind of experience. So come back here daily and enjoy. All you have to do is bookmark this page and you will see all my stories there.

And don’t forget to tell me what you think because I love to hear from our readers—just post the comment below and I will respond asap!

In the meantime, here are some fun photos to start with.

Meeting Kelly Rowland. I was photographing her for OK! Magazine. Nobody knew she was in town, except for me when I discovered it through a friend. So I broke the story and we got the Exclusive with her. Dubai, 2005.

Lacroix couture show. You may recognize the dress on the right, as Uma Thurman wore it to the Oscars. Everyone hated it but I never did because I remembered how good it looked on the model. Dubai, 2004.

Lacroix’s couture show. Who remembers the dress on the right? Uma Thurman wore it to the Oscars that year. Everyone hated it, but I never did because I remembered how good it looked on the model before I saw it on Uma. Dubai, 2004.

Behind The Scenes with Russia's top designer Valentin Yudashkin. I was the only journalist allowed backstage. Not sure what year this was in. I think it was in 2003.
